Healthy Way to Lose Belly Fat

Just a few tips to implementing a healthy way to lose belly fat. Nothing too difficult or strenuous here and definitely no prescription drugs with this method.

chew food completely

It’s not a pleasant thought to sit there and continue to chew your food until it gets to a pasty consistency, but that is one of the less-oft talked about methods to properly digesting your food and losing excess weight. I remember growing up I was told in school to chew my food 32 times before swallowing. I thought why 32 times? Is that an arbitrary number? Or am I chewing once for every tooth? Either way I thought it was gross to sit there and chew the food with the build up of saliva in my mouth and then having a classmate open his mouth to show the progress he had made. Just recently I heard the number of times has been increased to 45. Nasty.

Nasty, but necessary. The first part of digestion takes place in your mouth. There is where the saliva starts breaking down the food you put in there. Too often we chew a few times and then we swallow. We don’t allow the teeth and saliva to do there part in the digestive process, thus making it harder to pass food through and causing the food to sit in our stomach far longer that it needs to.

I watch way too many TV dramas and reenactments of crimes and inevitably they’ll feature a medical examiner that can tell where a person ate their last meal due to the incompletely-chewed undigested food in their stomach. Vegetables that were still in tack enough to be recognized (graphic example). So if you want a reason why you shouldn’t chew you food completely, then this may be one. It may actually help solve your murder. Morbid, I know. But the point is that there really isn’t a good reason not to chew your food and help the digestive process.

Takeaway: When you properly chew your food completely you break it down and facilitate it passing through your stomach quickly. Another thing is that there aren’t too many food items that can withstand that much chewing. With the exception of some meats, anything else will probably be paste before chewing that many times.

drink a lot of water

This is going to be a tad bit confusing. See when it comes to drinking water I’ve heard a lot of theories regarding the amount of water you should be drinking on a daily basis. On the lower end, I’ve heard that you should drink at least 64 ounces of water to drinking half an ounce of water per pound of body weight daily on the high end. Let me explain… lets say that you weigh 160 lbs butt naked. You should be drinking approximately 80 ounces of water per day. If you weigh 200 lbs then that will be approximately 100 ounces per day.

Now if you stop to think about this, you’ll realize that that is a lot of water for someone to consume in a day. And not even a full 24hr day. You really only have your waking hours to drink all of this water. So in essence we’re talking approximately 16 hrs that you’re awake. Now if you were to drink an 8 oz glass of water every hour for 16 hours that will take care of 128 ozs. That’s a nice amount of water but in all honestly, I’ve tried this when I lived on the eastcoast and I tell you by the 6th or 7th glass, I had enough. The thought of drinking another drop of water made me nauseous. Not likely that you can do this if you intend to eat also. That’s why I suggest that you modify that total number of ounces needed to include water based foods like broccoli, grapefruit, cantaloupe and tomatoes that you can consume during the day. If you eat watermelon, that should account for some of the ounces required.

Another thing with the suggestion of the total number of ounces required daily is that it does not take into a account your lifestyle. For instance, if you lead an active lifestyle, then you may require more water than someone that works in an office.

And what role does your location play? I live in Las Vegas NV. You can easily drink a gallon of water if you spend anytime outside during the summer months.

A recent study at Virginia Tech found that participants that consumed 16 ounces of water before three meals during the day lost an average of 5 pounds more than participants that did not increase water intake.

Eat more often during the day

If you eat 5 – 6 smaller meals throughout the day instead of three big ones, you’ll keep your metabolic rate constantly working thus causing you to burn more fat and lose more weight.

It wouldn’t be fair if I don’t give you an example of a possible menu based on waking up at 7am and going to bed at 11pm. This is just an example of the timeline that you can incorporate for your own meal plan.

7am Glass of tepid water

7:30 Breakfast can be eggs, sausage, toast, decaf tea, juice or water

9:40am Glass of water

10am Fruit or Snacks like nuts and berries, cantaloupe water

12:10pm Glass of water

12:30 pm Chicken breast sandwich water

2:40pm Glass of water

3pm Some snack. Maybe grapes, slice of watermelon

5:10pm Glass of water

5:30pm Veal parmigiana glass of water watermelon.

7:40pm Glass of water. Try to limit your liquid intake after time. You don’t want to be drinking anything 3 hours before you go to bed.

8:00pm Small salad very little dressing

Some experts will tell you not to eat past a certain hour. I’ve heard everything from 8pm to as early as 6pm. Can you imagine if you ate nothing past 6pm and you were going to bed at 11? I couldn’t last. And just knowing that it wasn’t allowed would make me feel thirsty and want it even more. I know a lot of people who are in the same boat. So I asked and I was told my a few nurses and doctors that eating a small salad a couple of hours before bedtime will not do you any harm and the salad may actually help you sleep soundly. This is a perfect seque to the next section on losing belly fat.

Get sufficient rest

Getting adequate rest plays a big role in losing belly fat.

Moderate exercise

I know people hate when they’re presented with a tip to lose weight that includes exercise or physical activity. The truth is that just about any fat burning plan worth it’s weight (no pun intended) has to include some from of physical activity.

Now please understand that physical activity does not mean a full blown workout session at the gym. It could mean that, but for starters if you don’t do any type of activity, then any that you do start will help. So if you do no walking whatsoever, then starting a “walk around the neighborhood” program for 15 minutes or more will greatly assist you in losing weight.

Most Effective Way to Lose Belly Fat

The most effective way to lose belly fat is determined before you consider any weight loss method. It’s success is contingent on the choice that you make. At the start of this article I said the there is no best way to lose belly fat because something that works for me may not necessarily work for you.

But that’s only part of it. See you have to know your limitations and you have to be honest with what you are willing to do in order to lose weight. For instance don’t purchase a fat burning program if deep down you hate exercising and you’re only hoping that you can finally start.

Same thing goes for taking a weight loss supplement. If you’ve never been real good as taking pills as prescribed or you’re just forgetful, then maybe a diet pill isn’t the best way to lose belly fat.
